Diesel, heating oil and GNR (non-road diesel) are hazardous products and must therefore be stored or transported in a specialized container meeting strict regulations. Alorem offers you certified fuel tanks so that you can store or transport your fuel safely.
Today, many models are available and it is important to follow selection criteria to get the best product for your needs.
Fuel tank: The selection criteria
When considering an investment in a fuel tank, there are several criteria to consider beforehand.
1 – Needs
First, it is necessary to clarify your need in order to find the most suitable product. To do this, you can ask yourself several questions:
- What type of fuel do you want to store?
- Do you need a storage tank or a transport tank?
- Should the tank be equipped with a dispensing system?
- How do you want to store your tank?
- What storage capacity do you need?
These questions may raise others as you answer them, helping you refine your search.
2 – Storage capacity
The various models of fuel tanks available for purchase offer a wide range of storage capacities. The goal is not to have the largest tank possible, but rather to have an idea of how you will use it and the amount of fuel to be stored.
To do this, you can refer to the previous questions and calculate a consumption per hour or per day in order to determine the amount of fuel you need.
Alorem offers you different types of tanks to best suit your needs.
3 – Material
On the market, you will find tanks made from different materials. To know which material to choose, it is essential to clearly understand the tank’s intended use. Two materials are available: steel or polyethylene.
Which material for which use?
If you are an individual and will not be using the tank in a professional context, you can opt for a plastic fuel tank. It offers several advantages, including being lighter and especially more affordable. However, it has a shorter lifespan and the lack of a double wall increases the risk of leaks.
For any professional use, it is preferable to choose steel tanks which offer a higher level of safety. Much more durable, they have a significantly longer lifespan than plastic tanks and offer better long-term performance.
