To circulate freely on public roads, IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Containers) must be ADR certified. If the ADR inspection is not carried out, the IBCs lose their ADR certification and are no longer authorized to circulate on public roads, thus losing their primary purpose. Entrusting IBC inspections and metrological checks to Alorem ensures you receive a quality service.
What does the IBC inspection consist of?
Unlike plastic tanks which can no longer be used after 5 years, steel tanks have a longer lifespan provided that inspections are properly carried out, starting from the manufacturing date indicated on the tank. A partial inspection must be done every 2.5 years, and a full inspection every 5 years.
During inspections, the condition of the tank is checked. The risk of leakage is assessed through a leak tightness test, and the regulatory adhesive labels are inspected and cleaned. After these inspections, a periodic inspection report is updated, serving as proof of proper inspection. Note that if this report is not updated, you risk being penalized.
